Thirty of my former high-school students — who are now making their ways out in the world — volunteered to participate in ink + sky’s first Postcard Project. I am grateful for their honesty, their candor, and their willingness to take a risk.
By disclosing what they are trying to figure out, these young men and women are revealing a part of their inner selves. This courageous decision requires the willingness to be vulnerable, which is one of the most powerful acts that a person can demonstrate.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It is certainly challenging growing up and looking back at what we wanted to do as a child because often times we do not end up in that particular occupation. But perhaps there is a reason for that, as frustrating as that may seem right now. Those aspirations that we have help make us into who we are today, and it is a challenge to envision ourselves doing anything else. But accepting the fact that it may not be that exact thing, and being open minded is very important in being happy and successful as you progress in life. There is so much that we do not even know about at this point, so you never know what you may end up doing! Just make sure you end up in a field that you enjoy, as it will make you feel much more fulfilled no matter what. Do not quit on your childhood dreams by any means, just be open minded. Ask yourself if there is anything similar to it that you would like, or perhaps something totally different. As long as you are doing what the PRESENT you wants to do and will enjoy, that is the most important part. Good luck with everything!
